Hanks is head groom at Helwater, serving Lord and Lady Dunsany and the Dunsany family. He may be a relation to the Dunsany's butler (also called Hanks) who worked for the family in Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade.

Hanks is head groom at Helwater. He sleeps in the stables with Jamie and the other groom, Crusoe. In April of 1760, he falls off a ladder and breaks his arm.

Sometime between April and October of 1760, Hanks again falls off a ladder and breaks his neck. He dies instantly.^[1]

Physical Appearance

He is older and slightly jaundiced in color.^[2] He frequently smells.
